Shamanik : From the roots of reggae to the pop Eufrika

Jamaica's iconic music, resonates far beyond its island borders thanks to its universal themes of love, freedom and resilience, as well as its rich history, marked by legendary figures such as Bob Marley, Burning Spear, Peter Tosh etc... It finds echoes in the heart of Shamanik, a French artist of Reunion Island origin, for whom this musical culture is much more than a simple genre: it is a way of life, a family heritage and an infinite source of inspiration.

A childhood rocked by the vibrations of reggae

I grew up to the sound of skanks and the deep bass typical of reggae. My parents, originally from Reunion Island, passed on to me a rich Creole culture, marked by music and sharing. My father, a musician in the reggae group "Les New Roots", played a central role in this early learning. At a very young age, I attended my father's rehearsals, naturally absorbing the syncopated rhythms and committed messages carried by this music.

In the family home, Bob Marley and Alpha Blondy held a special place in the daily playlists. Jamaican and African reggae bathed my daily life, forging my ear and my love for this vibrant and universal music.
The first notes and the first groups.

It was in adolescence that I started playing the guitar, around the age of 15, taking up some classics by Marley and Alpha Blondy. These moments of solo practice quickly turned into musical encounters. With other young musicians sharing the same passion, I cut my teeth, creating my own reggae groups. These experiences were an opportunity to shape my style, while cultivating the values of solidarity and positive energy that characterize this music.

A career fueled by authenticity and passion

Today, Shamanik continues this legacy as an accomplished solo artist and in EUFRIKA. True to his reggae roots, he also explores other facets of his musical personality, broadening the spectrum of his creativity and navigating between pop, world and RnB.
